Summer classes are not at all your idea of the perfect way to spend your vacation time, and we all know that in the long run, you will never be happy that you did. Most students do not attend summer sessions (lucky losers), which means you will have smaller class size great for those with claustrophobia (it is not a fear of Santa Claus, it is a fear of closed spaces). And to become more terrifying â€" that means more individual attention and access to your teachers. Are you really so willing to get to know your professors and your campus better? Isnt that an extra burden for your poor brain, already stuffed with all those beautiful things like, sports, dances, movies, good food… They will try to seduce you with different programs and activities at school without having to fight the crowd that arrives in the fall â€" as if you care! But there is a ray of light among the darkness shorter summer session! Summer classes last just 8 weeks, which means you may complete courses in half the time of a regular semester. On the other hand â€" I promiseâ€" you will spend less time in regular classes! Less time surrounded by your wonderful classmates bulling you, less time in the school cafeteria, poisoning you with broccoli… Try to take classes on subjects you hate, because you will have more time for subjects you like during the regular sessions. The shorter summer session also means you can still enjoy a break before the fall semester begins. Summer courses maybe could help you graduate sooner. That is what THEY want you to believe! It was not enough getting up early for 9 months! No! You have to continue living that nightmare by taking classes, so you may earn credits towards the approximate 120 college units needed to graduate. That means that you will have fewer classes to take during the end of your college career â€" less time spent with your friends, making jokes about your annoying teachers; not to mention seeing the boring faces of your tutors, instead of taking in the sun outside. And the final drop taking classes in the summer will keep you in the habit of attending class, studying and completing assignments. Now it is all clear! They think you dont have a social life! They may imagine that you were born for studying and moving forward to success! How could they! And the music? And the FUN? Keeping yourself in the educational habit could mean a more successful semester in the fall, or a total ruin for your usual lazy life. Recent education reforms in Europe and the Middle East have acknowledged the need for progressive innovation in this area, with a particular focus on the potential for student-lead learning to become a more significant component of the schooling experience. Student-lead learning is exactly as it sounds. Although teachers remain in the classroom to provide guidance on subject areas and to oversee quality, the control of the learning experience is handed over to the students. They are encouraged to teach themselves and their peers by undertaking their own study and research, then sharing their findings with others.  A recent pilot study at a Avans University in the Netherlands, showed that handing the lead to students raises grades, increases attendance and enhances overall stude nt engagement. The experiment began with the finance department, whose lecturers had decided radical action was needed to improve a typical attendance rate of just 50% in each class, and the poor exam performance as a result.Students were divided into groups to present different topics and were given free reign to structure their classes as they wished. It was noted that some classes took a creative approach, using interesting ways of presenting information, some groups held practical sessions, for example, one based their session around an entertaining, popular Dutch game show format. Being prepared for your new job means you have everything with you thats required: photo IDs, a nice pen, and a packed lunch. Depending on how long youll be working that day, maybe you need a phone charger. Do they expect you to have your own laptop or will they provide one? Make sure you know exactly what you need to bring with you otherwise, youre out of luck. 2. Plan ahead. Its probably not wise to wait until the morning of your first day to pick out your outfit. In fact, making sure you have something to wear that fits nicely and is in line with the dress code is something you work on a few  days  before you show up for your first day. Showing up presentable, well-dressed, and clean is  very  important. Remember: this is the first impression your coworkers will have of who you are, and no matter how much we deny it, the first impression is the most important one. Theyll base how hard you work, how reliable you are, and whether or not you were a good hire on how you show up looking the first day. 3. Exude confidence. Especially when introducing yourself, make sure youre giving off confident vibes. Youve been offered a job, youve accepted, and now here you are. Youre worthy of being there, and your supervisors think youll do a great job. No one is rooting for you to fail. So make sure when you show up for the first day of your new job, you can confidently (but not arrogantly) introduce and talk about yourself. Your new coworkers will want to know what kind of person you are, if youre married or have kids, and what you like to do in your free time. Regardless of the type of person you have training you, show up ready to listen to every detail. Youll want to get things right the first time. * Pro tip: when you get home after your first day, write down all the questions you have about daily procedures. You wont want to overwhelm someone with them all at once, but you also dont want to forget them. Itll be handy to have a list of questions when the person whos training you says, Any questions? 5. Dont be so hard on yourself. Its your first day for crying out loud! Dont be too tough on yourself, and realize that everyone makes mistakes.
